A video has been posted recently showing a string of lights apparently hovering in the sky over Chile.
The video was taken by the Gollitos Family on 22 November 2020 but exactly where the video was taken is not known. This could be a number of separate smaller objects in a formation or a single large object that contains lights in it's structure. The video is reminiscent of the well-known "Phoenix Lights" sighting.
Analysis
In order to determine whether the object(s) move during the video, image snapshots from the video were taken at 7 seconds, 12 seconds, 25 seconds and 40 seconds intervals and the images superimposed such that the building and foreground line up.
As we can see, the lights do not appear to move, they are static (at least for the duration of the video). It would be likely that flares would drift over that time and their position would change. Therefore we can say these are not flares or Chinese lanterns.
There does not appear to be any
stars in the video so either they are too dim to show or the sky was
cloudy, obscuring them. This suggests the lights are either very much brighter
than stars or are low in the sky, beneath the cloud cover.
We do not know if the objects are actually in the sky, or whether there are hills or mountains in the distance that do not appear on the video. If there are mountains, the lights may be from buildings or vehicles, although being in a line grouping like this is usual.
Conclusion - unknown
