Bright, fast moving ball-shaped object caught on video during a thunder storm over US navy base in Yokosuka City, Japan, 7 July 2021

Japanese YouTuber "いろいろやってみる、ぶぐがんす" has posted a video showing a bright ball-like object moving erratically during a thunderstorm over a US navy base in Yokosuka City, Japan, on 7 July 2021.

The witness says "I happened to discover a UFO while shooting thunder ⁉︎ I think it's real!"

They continue "It looks like it is flying at a fairly high speed while shining. The navigation light is not blinking because it is not an airplane or helicopter."

The object in question appears after about 1 minute, 20 seconds into the video;

Analysis

It is probably not a coincidence that this object appears during a thunderstorm - that is a clue. It is highly likely that this is a video of the very rare phenomenon of ball lightning.

From wikipedia, "Ball lightning is an unexplained phenomenon described as luminescent, spherical objects that vary from pea-sized to several meters in diameter. Though usually associated with thunderstorms, ball lightnings are said to last considerably longer than the split-second flash of a lightning bolt, and are a distinct phenomenon from St. Elmo's fire

Conclusion - Probably Ball Lightning

Saucer shaped dark object hovers over Hachioji, Japan, 12 April, 2021

A Youtube video shows what looks like a saucer-shaped object hanging stationery over Hachioji, Japan at around 15:30 on 12 April 2021.

The witness does not give much more information but indicates that the object was hanging there for a long time. It is a shame we do not know what happened to the object - did it move away slowly, did it disappear?

Analysis

We see the object has a lighter colourded centre so perhaps the object is not solid, but doughnut shaped. By superimposing a frame from the start of the video with one from the end and lining-up the buildings and trees at the bottom we see that the object has moved, perhaps drifted in the wind. We can see from the movement of the trees in the video that there is not much wind, so any object such as a balloon, floating, would not move that far.

Conclusion - The object may well just be a "O" shaped balloon. The lack of extra-ordinary movement from the object supports this conclusion although we cannot say with 100% certainty.
