Apparent glowing cylinder videoed moving across the sky in Thornton, California, USA 24 March 2021

A recent MUFON report containing a grainy video shows what looks like a long glowing cylinder moving across the evening sky over Thornton, California, USA on 24 March 2021.

In the video, there are several witnesses exclaiming their astonishment at the object (with many rude expletives, hence we have removed the audio from the video), claiming they did not know what the object was, and that it must be a UFO.

Analysis

Under certain atmospheric conditions, the contrails left by a jet aircraft can be short rather than the long line we are usually accustomed to.

In the video, it looks like evening time, with the sun just set below the horizon. Any aircraft contrail high in the sky would still be under-lit with an warm glow by the setting sun.

As the aircraft flies along, generating new contrail, the contrail tail end dissipates, giving the impression of a glowing, moving cylinder.

Conclusion - Sunlit aircraft contrail

Daily Record Newspaper thinks aircraft contrail is a UFO

Must be a slow news day for the Daily Record newspaper as it has run a story about a "shapeshifting UFO bewilder onlookers levitating above Kilmarnock"

Analysis

Clearly, this is nothing more than a high altitude aircraft doing a slow bank to the right. The setting sun is illuminating the aircraft contrail from below. Toward the end of the video, you can see another aircraft flying left to right producing another contrail. The "UFO" contrail looks shorter as we see it edge on and not side on like the second aircraft.

Conclusion - Aircraft
